Portrait show opens Saturday at Art on Park

WARREN — More than 25 area artists will participate in “Portraiture on Park” on Saturday at the Art on Park building.

Curated by Joshua Kronauer, the exhibition is devotedto works exploring classic portraiture.

Participating artists include Jessica Oswald, Michele Coe, Sally Kowalski, David Wheeler, Joe Perry, James Hardy, Karen Fry, Rindi Hanna, Josh Ford, Corey DeLaratta, Cheyene Finney, Josh Ryhal, Carmen Denno, Gary Barnes, Jeff Vargo, Rob Booth, Ron Krygowski, Diane McCabe, Pete Vouvounas, Dave Karr, Samuel Perry, Jennie Test Djente, L. Vanauker, Julie Martin, James Shuttic and Kronauer.

G.C. Kirkwood Photographic Gallery will be offering portraits during the opening reception using an early photographic process called wet plate photography (aka collodion process), which dates back to the 1800s. This process creates one-of-a-kind image with a vintage look. The cost is $45 for a one-sixth plate image, $55 for a one-fourth plate image and $65 for a half-plate image.

The show runs 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Art on Park, 180 N. Park Ave., Warren. Admission is free, and light snacks and beverages will be provided. The art studios in the Art on Park building will be open during the event.
