Lit Youngstown hosts Biddinger, Dravec

Poets Mary Biddinger and Sarah Dravec will be featured at Lit Youngstown’s next First Wednesday Reader Series event. Biddinger is a poet and flash fiction writer who lives in Akron. She is an English professor at the University of Akron, where she is on the faculty of the NEOMFA creative writing program.

Her most recent poetry collection is “Department of Elegy” (Black Lawrence Press, 2022). She is co-editor, with Julie Brooks Barbour, of “A Mollusk Without a Shell: Essays on Self-Care for Writers” (University of Akron Press, 2024).

Dravec is a graduate of the NEOMFA. Her chapbook, “I do not feel a mountain between my breasts,” was a finalist for Driftwood Press’s 2020 Adrift Chapbook Contest. Her work has appeared in Bone Bouquet, Gold Wake Live and other publications.

The reading starts at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown, in the Trophy Room, which only is accessible by stairs. It will be followed by an open mic co-hosted by Marissa McCabe.
