Lebanese Food Festival is Sunday

A Lebanese Food Festival is planned from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at The Basilica and National Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, 2759 Lipkey Road, North Jackson.

The menu will include lamb shanks, kafta kabob, chicken shawarma, falafel, baked stuffed kibbeh, pumpkin kibbeh, loubia, meat pies, spinach pies, fattoush, Lebanese rice, hummus and more.

Author Christie announces signings

Austintown author Nancy Christie will sign copies of her novel “Finding Fran” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Look Nook Gift Shop at Salem Regional Medical Center, 1995 E. State St., Salem.

The novel tells the story of a once-successful romance novelist coping with a failing career, writer’s block and a cheating lover.

Other upcoming area book signings include noon to 2 p.m. June 4 at the Trumbull Regional Medical Center Gift Shop in Warren and noon to 3 p.m. June 8 at Leana’s Books & More in Austintown. For more information, go to www.nancychristie.com.

Students stage ‘Pride & Prejudice’

The play “Pride & Prejudice” will be staged at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday at Heartland Christian School, 28 Pittsburgh St., Columbiana.

Jane Kendall’s script, based on the Jane Austin novel of the same name, focus on Mrs Bennett’s efforts to marry off her five daughters and is directed by Bill Henry.

Tickets are $8 for adults (or two for $15) and $5 for students and senior citizens or $25 for the entire immediate family.

Derby party at Ashtabula Arts Center

A Kentucky Derby-themed launch party for the annual Dining for the Arts fundraiser is scheduled from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St., Ashtabula.

Dining for the Arts is AAC’s largest annual fundraiser and includes unique dining experiences at homes, restaurants and other venues throughout Ashtabula County. Seating is limited at those dinners, and Saturday’s event will be the first opportunity to sign up.

Saturday’s event will include a buffet of appetizers and desserts, a cash bar, a silent auction and music by Picklemilk. Admission is free, and those interested in attending can RSVP online at ashtabulaartscenter.org or by calling 440-964-3396.

Viking Fest comes to Century Village

Viking Fest: A Celebration of Norse Culture and Heritage comes to Century Village, 14653 E Park St, Burton, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

The event will include a Viking encampment, storytelling sessions and interactive demonstrations on Norse culture, Viking battles and demonstrations, live music, artisan vendors and children’s activities.
