Paintings of Lynn Anderson on exhibit at JCC beginning Friday

The paintings of Lynn Anderson will be featured in an exhibition opening Friday at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown’s Thomases Family Endowment Art Gallery.

“What I Hear” includes acrylic works on canvas that are inspired by the Youngstown artist’s love of music.

“Part of the joy of living is hearing music, enjoying the sound of beautiful music,” Anderson said. “I have been inspired by music again and again, for years, days, hours, minutes.”

In her paintings, Anderson seeks to give people joy by enabling them to see the beautiful music she has heard translated visually from her perspective.

“I paint the depth, the shape, the texture, and the flow,” she said. “I paint music’s trail, after it has gone, alight in the dark. I paint what music has inspired me to illustrate, in my own humble way, in the color that I feel denotes how valuable it is: gold.”

The work will be on display through May 26 at JCC, 505 Gypsy Lane.
