The 81st Area Artist Annual opens Sunday at the Butler Institute of American Art Trumbull Branch.

The all-media show is open to artists living in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties in Ohio and Mercer and Lawrence counties in Pennsylvania.

This year’s juror was Russell Maddick, professor emeritus from the department of art at Youngstown State University. He selected 92 pieces by 70 artists from the 193 works that were submitted for consideration.

Works include paintings in oil, watercolor, acrylic and pastel as well as drawings, prints, photographs, ceramics, sculpture and crafts.

The Area Artists Annual runs through Nov. 27 at the Butler-Trumbull, 524 Wick Ave., Youngstown. An opening reception for the artists and Butler members runs from 1 to 3 p.m. Sunday. For more information, call 330-743-1107.
