PET BLESSINGS: St. Columba Cathedral, Youngstown, will host a blessing of the pets in honor of St. Francis of Assissi at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 3 on the front steps of the church behind the bell tower.
MEN’S RALLY: The Men’s Rally in the Valley will take place 7 am. to 4 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Covelli Centre in Youngstown. The theme is “Be United in Christ.” Free admission. Scheduled guests are Tim Ginter, Bob Pavlich, Joel Penton, Vance Johnson and Markus McFolling. Doors open at 7 a.m. Musical performance by Sidewalk Prophets.

GUEST SPEAKER: “The Apostle Paul in 2021” will be the topic of discussion as part of the annual Nostra Aetate Lecture Series 7 p.m. Oct. 6 via Zoom. Guest speaker is Paula Fredriksen, professor of scripture emerita at Boston University. Since 2009, she has been the distinguished visiting professor for Comparative Religion at the Hebrew University, Jerusalem. Discussion will be on the difference between Jews and non-Jews and what type of Jewish world Jesus inhabited. Registration is needed by Oct. 5 at vmesc.org or call 724-964-8886.
CEMETERY PRESENTATION: The outreach team from Catholic Funeral and Cemetery Services, a ministry of the Diocese of Youngstown, will be at St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown on Oct. 9 and 10 to discuss the spiritual and practical reasons for learning about CFCS programs and services for Catholic funerals, burials and cremations. After each Mass, there will be a short presentation along with a question-and-answer session in the parish hall.
CHAPLET OF DIVINE MERCY: Catholic Funeral and Cemetery Services of the Diocese of Youngstown will offer The Chaplet of Divine Mercy at all four cemeteries 3 p.m. every Friday. The chaplet will be said at alternating cemeteries. The first Friday of the month will be at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown; the second Friday at Resurrection Cemetery, Austintown; the third Friday at All Souls Cemetery, Cortland; and the fourth Friday at Calvary Cemetery, Massillon.
NUN RUN: The Ursuline Sisters HIV / AIDS Ministry and Ursuline Preschool and Kindergarten are hosting the Seventh annual Nun Run 5K, 1-mile walk and kids run. This year, the event will be a hybrid of an in-person event as well as a virtual one.
The in-person event will take place Oct. 2 at the Ursuline Center, 4280 Shields, Road, Canfield. The entry fee is $25 in advance or $30 the day of the race. There is no entry fee for the kids run. Registration will open on race day at the Ursuline Center auditorium at 7:30 a.m. A kids fun run begins at 8:15 a.m., followed by a 1-mile walk at 8:30 a.m. and the 5K race at 9 a.m. Awards will be given to the top three overall male and female finishers, as well as age group winners. The virtual event will take place Oct. 2 through 16 and can be completed from anywhere in the world. Virtual participants also will receive an official Nun Run T-shirt, finisher medal and goodies with their entry fee of $25.

CAHILL CONCERT: Internationally acclaimed Irish tenor Emmet Cahill will present his fall comeback concert at 7:30 p.m. Friday at St. Columba Cathedral, 159 W. Rayen Ave., near downtown.
This will be the singer’s fourth appearance at the church Cahill is one of the lead singers of Celtic Thunder and his concert will be a combination of Irish music, classical music, show tunes and church hymns. Proceeds will benefit the St. Columba food pantry and educational programs.
Tickets can be purchased for a special pre-concert meet-and-greet with Cahill at 6 p.m. for $50. Other tickets are $40 for mid-section front and $30 for seats in the back of the church.

WOMEN’S CONNECTION: Youngstown South Christian Women’s Connection will present the “Fall is in the Air” luncheon 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 13 at Avion on the Water Banquet Center, 2177 W. Western Reserve Road, Canfield.
Christina Benton, owner of Just Pizzelles in Cortland, will speak. Music will be provided by Karen Gerberry and Mary Haddad of Adrian, Mich., will speak on “Survival and Success in the Search for Significance.”

OKTOBERFEST: Christ Our Savior / St. Nicholas Parish in Struthers, will host its third annual Oktoberfest 5 to 11 p.m. Friday. The event will include food, contests and entertainment by Youngstown Saxon Club Brass Band from 7 to 10 p.m.
GUEST SPEAKER: Word of Life Christian Center, 127 Wasser Road, Greenville, Pa., will host guest speaker, the Rev. Woody Woodson of Tulsa, at 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Sunday.

PRAYER GATHERING: A drive-in prayer gathering and tent revival will be 7 p.m. daily through Sept. 19 at 8301 Market St., Youngstown.
FREE CONCERT: Cortland Church of the Nazarene, 293 E. Main St., will host a free outdoor concert 6 p.m. Sunday in the church parking lot. The music will be provided by the Gospel Harmonaires. Guests should take a lawn chair or use a folding chair that will be provided.
ANNIVERSARY: Third Christian Church, 241 First St., in Warren, will mark its 101st anniversary in September. Upcoming events are celebration of Pastor Robert Faulkner’s fifth anniversary 11 a.m. Sunday, a musical performance 4 pm. Sept. 19 and 101st church anniversary 11 a.m. Sept. 26.
On Sunday, guest speaker is the Rev. Cynthia Klingemier and special guest performance will be by The Women of Wisdom of Cleveland.

REVIVAL SET: Lighthouse Covenant Ministries, 1755 Shehy St., Youngstown, will host a Kingdom Experience revival today and Sunday. Apostle Robert Jenkins, along with Lady Cassandra Jenkins, will conduct the meeting. Apostle Jenkins heads Divine Insight Ministries out of New Orleans, La., which has a nationwide impact. Today’s services are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. then a free luncheon will be given and an afternoon service will start at 2 p.m. with the topic being “Covenant Couples” relationship workshop.
WHO IS JESUS: Cortland Trinity Baptist Church, 2576 McCleary-Jacoby Road, will host a “Who is This Jesus,” an eight-week class starting 9:15 a.m. Sundays at the church and 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays at the Cortland Library, 578 Lakeview Drive, led by Pastor Dan Barker. GOSPEL CONCERT: The Troy Burns Family of Bryson City, N.C., will host a Southern gospel concert 6:30 p.m. Friday at Carrolton Bible Church. A love offering of two food items for the food pantry will be accepted. Burns has recorded more than 700 original and charting songs.
FELLOWSHIP EVENT: The Trumbull County Evangelical Ministers Fellowship will meet 6:45 p.m. Thursday at the Jericho Center, 2878 Warren Meadville Road, Bazetta. Cost is $5 donation.
Guest speaker is William Federer, nationally known speaker, best selling author, and president of Amerisearch Inc., a publishing company dedicated to researching America’s heritage. “Bill’s American Minute” is broadcast daily across America.
FOOD FEST: St. Columba Cathedral in Youngstown will have its second annual international food festival as a carryout option only on Friday at the church hall.
Combos are $15 each and can be picked up between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the parking lot between the church and the Williamson College of Business Administration at Youngstown State University. Checks and cash will be accepted but no credit cards. Orders can be paid for at pickup, but paying in advance is preferred.
There are five options to choose from: an Eastern European feast, an Italian feast, a Mexican feast, an American feast and a dessert sampler.

RISE AGAINST HUNGER: Lakeview Outreach and Fellowship will host Rise Against Hunger 8:30 to 11 a.m. Sept. 18 at Lakeview High School cafeteria. Volunteers are needed to help with the meal packing event. The bagged meals will help people in need worldwide. Visit riseagainsthunger.org.
STUDY GROUP: The Unity Spiritual Centre, 1226 Naylor Lloyd Road, Liberty, will host a new book study group 6:30 to 8 p.m. starting Wednesday. The Rev. Cay Tomerlin and Reed Broadway will be facilitating the discussion of “Home with God” by Neale Donald Walsch. “Home with God” is a continuation of Mr. Walsch’s “Conversations with God” series and deals specifically with the subject of death and life after. MARRIAGES: The Catholic Diocese of Youngstown’s Office of Pro-Life, Marriage and Family Ministry is sponsoring a second Wedding Anniversary Celebration to honor couples observing their 25th, 40th, 50th or over anniversaries in 2021. The celebration will be 1 p.m. Oct. 10 at the Basilica of St. John the Baptist in Canton. Couples interested in attending must register at their parish before Wednesday. The celebration will include Mass with the Bishop David Bonnar of Youngstown, renewal of marriage vows, a personalized certificate for each couple and a reception for the couples and their families hosted by the Basilica of St. John the Baptist Parish.

CONCERT SET: Second Baptist Church “A House of Hope.” 1510 Main Ave. SW, in partnership with 717 Credit Union and Brite Energy Innovators presents the “INSPIRE Summer Concert Series: An Immersive Arts Experience” 6 p.m. Sunday at the Warren Community Amphitheatre. Red Hands, an Ohio-based band who meld funk and soul sounds with inspirational messages, will perform. Also performing will be hip-hop recording artist King DTown, saxophonist Oscar Chattman, and keyboardist and vocalist Billy Beck, as well as local youth musicians and poets. INSPIRE also will feature the auction of a pop-art piece donated by Atlanta-based artist, Michael Johnson, also a Warren native.

BUS TRIP: Jesus the Key Ministries has a few openings on its bus trip to Lancaster, Pa. The trip is to the Sight and Sound Theater to see “Queen Esther,” a live theatrical presentation Dec. 8 and 9 departing from First Christian Church Columbiana. Cost is $320.
