OPEN HOUSE: The Jewish Community Center of Youngstown will host an open house at its Logan Campus, 3245 Logan Way, Liberty, 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday. Included in the open house will be raffles and Plinko prize fun. The outdoor campus offers a variety of options for JCC members and their guests, including a pool, an aquatic climbing wall, pickleball, sand volleyball, tennis and basketball courts, a pavilion and a snack shack. Membership to the JCC includes both the main campus, 505 Gypsy Lane, and Logan Campus. The Logan Campus is open Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day. Visit

VIP EXPERIENCE: DeSalvo Construction has partnered with Inspiring Minds to host a VIP Experience to benefit local youth. On June 11, DeSalvo Construction will host a VIP Party and Bourbon Night 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at The Grand Resort in Warren. Tickets can be purchased at www.IMyouth.org/golf and are $150 per person.
SENIOR SPOTLIGHT: The Girard-Liberty Rotary Club is sponsoring the Senior Spotlight Award each month at the Girard Board of Education meetings. Seniors will be recognized and will have the chance to be in a drawing at the end of each school year for a $1,500 scholarship. Information is available at the Girard High School guidance office.

RIVERFEST 2026: Friends of the Mahoning River is coming to Lowellville for the 15th annual Riverfest 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, with a day of family fun, environmental education and river recreation at Lowellville Riverfront Park.
A ribbon cutting for the newly improved park is at noon. There will be local vendors, kayaking with Buckeye Water to Trail Adventures, a pop-up library and musical acts. Food trucks will be on site, as well as Lowellville’s local pizza shop. Beer and wine will be available at Carlson’s alongside an outdoor stage.

BOOK SALE: The Friends of the East Palestine Memorial Public Library is hosting its annual silent auction and book sale 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The book sale will feature a $7 bag sale and will take place in the library basement. The silent auction will take place in the library community room.
A preview night will be offered 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday. There is a $5 admission fee. The preview night is for the book sale only.
There is a huge selection of DVDs and puzzles this year along with a great selection of hardback and paperback books, which are shelved by authors and interests to make “shopping” easy.
There is a wide variety of items and gift certificates in the silent auction that have been donated by businesses and patrons of the Library.

CAR SHOW: A benefit classic car show “The Cars are the Stars” will take place 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday on the grounds of the Girard MultiGenerational Center, Trumbull Avenue Registration of vehicles is from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. There will be prizes. SUMMER ART CAMP: The Youngstown State University Department of Art will host a summer art camp June 22 to 26 at Bliss Hall on the YSU Campus for ages 13 to 17. The camp will be 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. all five days. Participants will have the opportunity to take part in hands-on studio art experiences across a varied range of artistic media. PRESS CLUB SPEAKER: The Youngstown Press Club will have attorney David Marburger as guest speaker at noon June 18 at the main branch of the Public Library of Youngtown and Mahoning County, 305 Wick Ave., Youngstown. Marburger, who was the founding general counsel for the Ohio Coalition for Open Government, will discuss the legal threats facing the news media. Preregistration is required to attend by June 12. Cost is $30 for club members and $40 for non members. A portion of the proceeds from the event goes to the club’s college scholarship. WALK WITH A DOC: Youngstown State University’s Bitonte College of Health and Human Services continues its commitment to public health through the Walk with a Doc program, a free community wellness initiative at the Southern Park Mall.
The program takes place 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday and is led by YSU physical therapy faculty and students. This final session begins with a brief health talk before participants join in a walk around the mall. The topic is Alzheimer’s Month.
Walk with a Doc is part of an international nonprofit founded in 2005 to encourage healthier lifestyles through movement and conversation with medical professionals. The walks are free and open to the public. All ages and fitness levels are welcome, and no registration is required.
