Woman on trial pleads guilty to reduced charges, gets 15 years

YOUNGSTOWN — The woman on trial for murder this week in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court accepted a plea agreement today to reduced charges and got 15 years in prison.

The third day of the trial was about to begin this morning when Lyric Moore, 25, agreed to plead guilty to involuntary manslaughter and aggravated burglary and got a 15-year sentence.

She was indicted on aggravated murder and other charges that could have produced a life prison sentence if she would have been convicted.

She and a co-defendant were accused of killing Zachary Howell Sr., 40, in February 2017. Howell’s body was found in his burned-out car behind a vacant house on Edgar Avenue on the East Side on Feb. 20, 2017. Howell was reported missing the day before.

Co-defendant Terrell Martin, 41, pleaded guilty n March 2020 to murder in the case and was sentenced to 18 years to life in prison.
