Lighting of the Village slated

POLAND CELEBRATES THE HOLIDAYS: For the 11th consecutive year, Poland village will celebrate the Christmas season with the Lighting of the Village starting 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The free event is sponsored by the Poland Jr. Women’s Club and community organizations of Poland. The event begins at 5:30 p.m. with activities at the Poland village hall and Poland Library. Activities feature holiday carols, cookies and cocoa, horse-drawn carriage rides (carriage rides are free and sponsored by the Poland Rotary; sign up early as seating is limited), stories and crafts at the Poland Library, Santa’s arrival in a fire truck, and the lighting of the village Christmas tree and decorations. SOCIETY PROGRAM: Salem Historical Society will feature The Lords and Ladyes of Tapestries of Ohio, Inc., 7 p.m. Tuesday at the meeting room of the Dale Shaffer Library. Entrance is at 239 South Lundy Ave. with parking in the city municipal parking lot on South Lundy. The Tapestries of Ohio. which is complete with period costumes, songs, and instruments of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, will provide Christmas thyme entertainment. Members of Tapestries of Ohio volunteer their time and talents throughout the year to ensure quality performances. Tapestries of Ohio, Inc. is an associate member of the Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County. The event is open to the public. There will be a short business meeting. Members are encouraged to bring favorite Christmas cookies or dessert to share. For information, contact the society at 330-337-8514.

COOKIE WALK: Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Ave., will hold a cookie walk and craft show 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday or until items are sold out. Homemade cookies $7 per dozen. Call Sandy at 330-718-1572.
