Suspect in Youngstown homicide arrested

YOUNGSTOWN — A man wanted for a Youngstown homicide was arrested by the United States Marshals service in Atlanta, Georgia Thursday.

Kaylon Adams, 32, was wanted by the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office for aggravated murder, felonious assault, improperly discharging a firearm into a habilitation and having a weapon under disability, according to a news release.

On Nov. 19, officers responded to Zents Avenue and found the body of Christian Allan Oliver, 29, in the middle of the road. Youngstown police said he had been shot several times. Kaylon Adams was later identified as being involved in this fatal incident and warrants were issued for his arrest, according to the release.

The Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force said in the release that it developed information this week that Adams had fled to the Atlanta area.

On Thursday, Adams was arrested by the US Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force with the assistance of the Fulton County Police SWAT Team and the Atlanta Police Department at an address near the 2000 block of Sandtown Road, Atlanta.

Three firearms were also found at the address.

Adams was booked into the Fulton County jail while he awaits extradition back to Ohio.

“This violent fugitive attempted to evade arrest by fleeing hundreds of miles from Youngstown, Ohio to Atlanta, Georgia but the collaborative efforts of our task force and our state and local partners in Mahoning County led to the arrest,” U.S. Marshal Pete Elliott said.
