DEAR EDITOR: I love this country deeply, but I am concerned about what I see happening under Donald Trump’s leadership. My father, five uncles, a cousin and my late fiance, all served in the military and fought in wars to preserve our freedoms. They were brave enough to serve, unlike Trump, who avoided military service. Recently, my granddaughter joined the U.S. Army, and I am incredibly proud of her. DEAR EDITOR: At just 6 years old, I walked through the doors of the Boys & Girls Club not knowing that it would become one of the most influential parts of my life. What began as a safe place to go after school quickly transformed into the foundation of who I would become. The club gave me more than a place to spend time. DEAR EDITOR: The recent article about Attorney General Dave Yost’s death penalty report leaves out an important truth: his own report lists many reasons for moving beyond the death penalty. Yes, the AG is right that the death penalty process is lengthy and involves more appeals than non-death cases. But those appeals aren’t optional — they’re required by the courts, including the U.S. Supreme Court.
