DEAR EDITOR: An opinion writer in the 1/11 Vindy decried what he perceived as a lack of “facts” in letters that point out the many shortcomings of soon-to-be 47, the first convicted felon to be inaugurated president. The felony verdict was applied by Judge Juan Merchan in answer to a unanimous jury verdict delivered last summer and appealed, without change, to all the courts superior to Judge Merchan. DEAR EDITOR: As a teenage immigrant of 76 years, I have watched presidential memorial ceremonies for nine presidents, starting with President Harry Truman. DEAR EDITOR: I am writing in response to the Sound Off from Hubbard in the Jan. 11-12, 2025, Vindicator. As a retired educator I am extremely happy that the WEP has been repealed. I have been denied part of the Social Security that I was due for 11 years because I have a teacher’s pension. It is not an “outlandish” pension, it’s one I worked hard for and deserve. Trump’s tendency to “demand” that which is not his, is bombastic buffoonery. Regarding the Panama Canal, it is akin to a construction company demanding you hand over the keys to your paid for home because they built it. DEAR EDITOR: I have been a faithful reader of the Youngstown Vindicator ever since | moved back to the Valley from Cleveland in 1980. All in all, I think you do a decent job although there are certain things I disagree with. In the Weekend Edition for this past Saturday / Sunday, Jan. 4-5, I noticed the story on page A14 titled “Girard veteran awarded Medal of Honor.” Any time someone from the Mahoning Valley receives such a great honor, I think it should be on page 1 of your newspaper. Why can’t United States citizens be safe?

DEAR EDITOR: Stop the attack on good people! I feel that New York should clean out these people that attack good people that protect the bad people so they can go to jail and be right back out so they can hurt others. I feel that any city that does this should be boycotted. They are not safe. If you help protect others on the subway they attack you. The mayors that don’t want to protect the city should be removed.
