What ever happened to the rule of law?

DEAR EDITOR: Kilmar Abrego Garcia still sits in El Salvador‘s most notorious prison. The other day, on April 14, President Trump, the most powerful man in the world, and El Salvador‘s president Bukele, agreed that nothing could be done to free Garcia. How about this? Since Trump is such a tough guy, he should threaten to invade El Salvador or make it the 51st state. Give them 24 hours to release an American citizen. I keep waiting for our two senators and our congressman Mike Rulli to say something. Bernie Moreno ought to be a bit concerned since he was born in Colombia. But ...

We can politely agree to disagree

DEAR EDITOR: I would like to thank you for your article in the weekend paper. It was about people being offended by every little thing, but it doesn’t make them right just because they’re offended. Why can’t people just accept that others don’t always have the same point of view as they do? This hatred of others who don’t agree with you is so foolish and childish. We should be able to get along with our friends, neighbors and even family members we disagree with. Satellite internet is not the answer

DEAR EDITOR: Some congressmen have recently introduced legislation that could limit households and businesses in rural areas of our state to satellite internet service while other areas have access to reliable fiber internet. The SPEED for BEAD bill would also make it easier for companies to use low-road contractors when building fiber connections and cause delays in broadband build by forcing states to revisit their plans.
