The editorial by Debra Saunders is an attempt to twist the truth. Yes, there has been unacceptable violence against ICE agents. But it’s not because Democrats are advocating for violence but because Trump is showcasing cruelty to instill fear in people and pretend to be a tough guy. And he is deporting people who have not committed a crime and have been here for decades. Obama legally deported 5 million in eight years without agents being masked or attacked and without public and targeted raids. While Trump only deported 1 million in his four years. Senseless violence on city streets must end

DEAR EDITOR: WOW! Here we go again, another young life ended way before it’s time due to senseless violence; three children who will grow up without their father. How about it, Dodge City (aka Youngstown) — HAD ENOUGH YET? How many more bodies will lie in the street, how many more families will feel the grief of a lost loved one? Ohio Statehouse needs a thorough cleansing

DEAR EDITOR: I see where the unused funds GIVEN to the Haslams will never have to be paid back to our state. Wouldn’t it have been nice to use the money for the education of children? The Supreme Court of Ohio ruled the State Legislature had to properly fund our schools. Four times up to 2002. Now they come up with a plan to give money away. Speak out against the actions of ICE

DEAR EDITOR: This letter is intended to address the disgraceful and un-Christian treatment of our immigrants. ICE was assigned to gather up the hardened criminals — murderers, drug dealers, etc. In an attempt to reach a quota of deportations mandated by those in power, many law-abiding, hard-working families are being victimized. Some are legal citizens or in the process of becoming legal citizens. Why must politics ruin everything?

DEAR EDITOR: As a retired military man, I was very dismayed at all the No Kings demonstrations on June 14 (Flag Day). The celebration of the Army’s 250th birthday was initiated during the Biden administration. Whether they would have had a parade is unknown. It was a celebration for all the men and women who sacrificed years of family separations, careers and went to war to defend us from socialism and communism (which seems acceptable today) and defend our Constitution. Rulli’s resolution both pandering, insulting

DEAR EDITOR: U.S. Rep. Michael Rulli’s “Faith and Defiance Day” resolution manages to be both pandering and insulting at once. Pandering, because it’s simply one more example of a Republican officeholder bending over backwards to offer hyperbolic praise in order to both gain the fleeting attention of the president and also assuage his fragile ego.
