Speak up about changes in the church

DEAR EDITOR: Times are changing, some for the good and some not. Locally, we have elections and other issues that affect many in our city. I want to address one particular concern: the reduction of events at our city churches. It starts small, with collaborations, then proceeds to the reduction of masses. I understand the shortage of priests, but eventually, this can lead to the cutting of events that specific churches have traditionally hosted. Vote yes on the Mahoning senior levy

DEAR EDITOR: I’m asking Mahoning County voters to support the renewal of the Senior Levy. This is a renewal at the current rate, not an increase. The last time the Senior Levy was on the ballot, it passed with over 70% approval and with good reason. More than 95 percent of the funds are used for direct services to older adults, many of whom live alone. The services include home-delivered meals, personal care, housekeeping and help with chores. DEAR EDITOR: In July, Republicans closed the House of Representatives earlier than planned to avoid a vote on releasing the Epstein files. Presently, Republicans are keeping the House closed again. Not because of the government shutdown, but because when the House reconvenes, there will be enough votes to force the release of the Epstein files. Why are Republicans so desperate to conceal the Epstein files? Who are they protecting? In reading the Oct. 21 front page story of James Comey’s trial and his lawyers’ claim that the case is “driven by Trump’s personal animus,” the president is probably thinking to himself: “Welcome to My World” because he’s had plenty of Dem-driven witch hunts laid upon him. How appropriate that Comey’s trial is taking place during Halloween — the witch-hunt season.
