Today’s Democrats are enemies of police

DEAR EDITOR:

I was born when Dwight Eisenhower was president, in a strong union Democrat family. My father was heavily involved in the steelworkers union and the local Democrat Party.

I saw first-hand what dirty things the Democrats did to get elected and to stay in office. Worse yet was what they did to political adversaries. But they were pro-police. They respected and valued the police.

Today’s Democrats have become an enemy of the police. Democratic mayors and governors all around the country defund police departments and fire officers that have opinions contrary to theirs. Liberal prosecutors refused to prosecute crimes committed during the riots last year that resulted in the murders of 11 police officers, and hundreds more were injured. Thirty-seven officers have been killed in the first five months of this year, a 28 percent increase over 2020. Most of these murders were ambushes.

But the man in the White House being controlled by liberal Democrats is silent. Three officers were ambushed in Chicago the day he was there, and not a word was said about it. Did he call these officers or their families like he did for George Floyd’s family? No, he did not.

When you are locked in the bathroom dialing 911 in the middle of the night because armed intruders are in your house, it is the police who will run in, risking their own lives to save yours — not the liberals that are running this country into the ground.

By the way, both of my parents passed away as Republicans.
