Elaine L. Glaros 1950-2024

YOUNGSTOWN — Elaine Leone Glaros, 73, passed away early Monday morning, April 22, 2024. Elaine will always be remembered for her smile, kindness, generosity and loving nature.

She was born in Salem, on Oct. 29, 1950, the daughter of Frank and Eleanor Shulick Leone, and was a lifelong area resident.

Elaine graduated from Salem High School in 1968 and then went to work for Salem Label Company as a bookkeeper, followed by working at Wime Florist for her love of making floral arrangements.

Upon meeting her husband, William Glaros, whom she married Sept. 25, 1976, Elaine became a proud wife, mother and homemaker. Throughout her life, these were her main priorities.

She was very proud of her daughter’s accomplishment of being the first woman in the family to start an outpatient mental health counseling practice business in Austintown and Frederick, Maryland, to keep the family tradition going as her father owned his own gasoline station business in Salem.

Elaine was a great cook and her family will miss all the wonderful Italian dishes she would make for them, and especially her homemade chicken soup.

Elaine had many passions in her life. She enjoyed going to music concerts and loved animals, especially spending time with her grand-furbabies, Buddy-cat, Harley-cat and Bella-dog. She loved dancing, which she and her husband, as well as with their daughter, did for many years going out to hear live bands locally. She met her husband at a nightclub back in 1975 disco dancing. She was also talented at decorating for all the holidays and enjoyed making floral arrangements. Elaine loved listening to music, especially the 1970s era.

Elaine leaves behind to hold onto her precious memories, her husband of almost 48 years, William Glaros; her beloved daughter, Jacqueline Glaros of Poland; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her three sisters, Gloria, Mary and Dolores; and her brother, Frank; as well as her beloved dogs, Daisy Mae and Maggie Mae.

Family and friends may pay their respects 9 to 9:50 a.m. Wednesday, May 1, 2024, at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Basilica, 343 Via Mount Carmel, Youngstown, where a funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m., with the Very Rev. Msgr. Michael J. Cariglio as celebrant.

Burial will take place in Highland Memorial Park.

Arrangements have been entrusted to the Rossi & Santucci Funeral Home, 4221 Market St., Boardman. Family and friends may visit www.rossisantuccifh.com to view this obituary and send condolences to Elaine’s family.
