Bid comes in lower than estimate for street work

YOUNGSTOWN – The apparent low bid for an improvement project to three main streets in the city is almost $300,000 under the estimated cost. The city received two bids, which were opened Friday, for work to sections of Marshall Street, Salt Springs Road and North Belle Vista Avenue. The apparent low bid of $1,335,469 came from Lindy Paving of New Galilee, Pa. The city’s estimate for the work was $1,624,233. Police find vehicle in Austintown hit-skip

AUSTINTOWN — Township police have located a vehicle involved in a hit and run that left a man seriously injured Monday night. The crash occurred around 8 p.m. on Burkey Road near Western Place, and left a man in critical condition. Police have not disclosed the man’s identity or the exact nature of his injuries. Lt.
