BOARDMAN — Township leaders have confirmed that fire Chief Mark Pitzer will be leaving his post next month to accept a position in Canfield. He was hired Tuesday as deputy chief following an executive session of the Cardinal Joint Fire District board. He will be paid $92,000 per year. Township Administrator Mark Ragozine said Pitzer submitted his resignation letter on Tuesday, informing the township that he will step down on Aug. 7. YOUNGSTOWN — City council agreed to let the board of control seek proposals for the long-vacant former Bottom Dollar grocery store for potential development. The 7-0 vote Wednesday permits the board to seek requests for proposals for the empty building, evaluate the offers and negotiate with what it considers the best offer. The legislation requires any sale by the city be subject to council’s approval. The city wants sealed offers by Aug. 12 to the community planning and economic development department. HUBBARD TOWNSHIP — One Hubbard Township trustee admitted that while he was against data centers, the choice would be up to residents to allow one into the community, as they learned of an interested developer.
