Driver, 91, crashes into Cornersburg post office

YOUNGSTOWN — A 91-year-old Youngstown woman stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brake and drove into the front of the post office at 3375 Canfield Road in Cornersburg, according to police.

The Thursday morning crash caused “significant damage to the front of the building,” according to a Youngstown police crash report.

Her vehicle also hit a car parked in the parking lot in front of the post office before striking the building, the report states. A man, 70, of Youngstown was in the second car.

Neither driver apparently suffered any injury, the report states. Ambulance personnel responded to the accident, but neither person was transported to the hospital.

The report does not list any citations being written.

On Monday, plywood could be seen around the entrance door to the Post Office, but the post office was open for business.

Starting at $3.23/week.
