Youngstown police probe 2 shootings
YOUNGSTOWN — A man was found shot in the left arm around 4 p.m. Saturday on North Maryland Avenue on the West Side, and another shooting took place early Monday in the 100 block of East Avondale Avenue on the South Side.
Neither shooting was apparently life threatening, but Youngstown police provided little information on either shooting.
When police arrived on North Maryland, they found an injured man in the front yard of a nearby home. Officers rendered aid until ambulance personnel arrived and transported him to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital, a report states.
The report does not indicate how serious the wound was.
At 4:30 a.m. Monday, officers investigated after a person was shot in the 100 block of East Avondale Avenue on the South Side and was taken to St. Elizabeth Youngstown Hospital for treatment.
Capt. Jason Simon of the detective division of the the department referred questions Monday about the East Avondale shooting to Andy Resnick of CS Public Affairs, a local messaging organization working for the city.
Resnick advised by email that he was checking on the matter but did not provide any answers as of 6 p.m. Monday.
