Robbery suspect to appear in court today

YOUNGSTOWN — Bobbisue Averill, 42, whose address is the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley, will appear today in Mahoning County Area Court on a felony robbery charge in the Friday morning robbery of the Seven Seventeen Credit Union on California Avenue in Boardman.

But on Monday, Averill appeared by video in Youngstown Municipal Court on an earlier charge.

Her Boardman charge is a second-degree felony, punishable by about eight years in prison if convicted.

She also has a charge of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle pending in the Boardman court stemming from an incident May 14 in Boardman. She also will be arraigned on that today.

In Youngstown, Averill has a pending case of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia from July 28, 2021, for which she was arraigned Monday. Averill was video arraigned and Judge Renee DiSalvo ordered Averill held in the jail at least until her next hearing Aug. 24.

On Saturday, police learned that Boardman police had identified Averill as the suspected robber of the credit union. Police learned she was at Jordan Market in Youngstown on Saturday. Boardman police took her into custody there.

Boardman police posted on social media that a woman gave a credit union teller a threatening handwritten note demanding money Friday morning. She then left and got into the passenger seat of a black Ford Explorer.

Police posted images of the woman in the credit union robbery and got tips helping to identify her and her location in Youngstown.
