VA clinic to be dedicated today

Staff report

YOUNGSTOWN — VA Northeast Ohio Healthcare System today will host a dedication ceremony for the Youngstown VA Clinic, 1815 Belmont Ave.

It will be via Facebook (@ClevelandVAMC) at 10 a.m.

The clinic, which opened its doors in January 2021, is being dedicated as the Carl Nunziato VA Clinic.

Maj. (Ret.) Nunziato, a Youngstown native, is a decorated Army Vietnam veteran, dedicated to advocating for disabled and veterans’ rights. He retired from service in 1968 after serving three tours of combat to Thailand and Vietnam and earning the Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, National Defense Medal and many others.

The 35,344-square-foot facility provides a full range of services, including primary care and mental health services, women’s health, podiatry and physical therapy to nearly 11,000 veterans served by the clinic annually. A volunteer-run food pantry for veterans also is operated out of the clinic, providing more than 6,240 food bags to area veterans throughout the year.
