15 local students nominated to military academies

WARREN — U.S. Rep. Tim Ryan, D-Howland, announced Saturday the 15 local students who have been nominated to attend national military academies in 2021.

Each year, Ryan nominates some of the best and brightest students from the 13th District to United States military academies. Each nominee completed an application and interviewed with the 13th District nomination committee.

The nominees are:

• Brody Todd, son of Scott and Tammy Todd, Poland Seminary High School and Youngstown State University, Naval Academy.

• Maguire Franko, son of Todd and Terrie Franko, Poland Seminary High School, Military Academy at West Point.

• Randy McCloskey, son of Laura Mogg, Austintown Fitch High School, Military Academy at West Point.

• Zachary Glavic, son of David and Jennifer Glavic, Austintown Fitch High School, Naval Academy.

• Julia Gorby, daughter of Keith Gorby and Angela Hippley, Boardman High School, Naval Academy.

• Aidan Swavel, son of Jeffrey and Renee Swavel, Boardman High School, Air Force Academy.

• Salvatore Buonamici, son of Jon Buonamici, Boardman High School, Naval Academy.

• Patrick Wilson, son of Rickey and Annemarie Wilson, Ursuline High School, Naval Academy.

• Bailey Adams, daughter of Brian and Trisha Adams, Newton Falls High School, Military Academy at West Point.

• Carson Lewis, son of John and Eva Lewis, Howland High School and University of Cincinnati, Naval Academy.

• Stephen Pavlansky, son of Thomas and Kathleen Pavlansky, Lakeview High School, Air Force Academy.

• Rachel Prior, daughter of Scott and Kelly Prior, Bio-Med Science Academy STEM School, Naval Academy.

• Spencer Feeley, son of Brian and June Feeley, Circleview Academy, Military Academy at West Point.

• Chase Powers, son of Jeffrey and Grace Powers, Akron St. Vincent-St. Mary High School, Air Force Academy.

• Anthony Zumbar, son of Andrew and Michelle Zumbar, Alliance High School, Naval Academy.
