WHAT: Township trustee meeting Jan. 21

ABSENT: Devon Stanley

Trustees:

• Hired part-time firefighter / paramedic Michael P. Vigorito of Lyndhurst at $14; part-time firefighter / basic EMT Justin Neff of Austintown at $12 per hour; and full-time probationary patrolman Jeffrey Palmer at $20.84 per hour, pending pre-employment drug testing;

• Passed a resolution declaring 4630 March Ave. an “insecure, unsafe, structurally defective and / or unfit for human habitation” and authorized the demolition of the structure;

• Passed a resolution declaring 1710 Lincoln to be a nuisance due to “the owner’s maintenance of vegetation, garbage, refuse and other debris”;

• Heard from guest Lisa Taddei, regional external affairs consultant for Ohio Edison, to discuss LED lighting for township street lights. The cost would increase from $5.86 per light per month to $7.49 per month per fixture. About 700 lights are in the township, and the minimum amount to switch out is 12.
