Ivanka Trump coming to Niles

President’s daughter will appear Saturday

NILES — Plans are in the works for Ivanka Trump, the president’s daughter and a White House adviser, to have a Saturday campaign event for her father in Niles.

A time and location for the visit had not been announced as of Wednesday.

Ivanka’s campaign stop will come three days before Tuesday’s election.

Polls show a tight race in Ohio between Biden and Donald Trump.

During her last visit to Ohio — an invitation-only event Oct. 16 in Cincinnati — Ivanka spoke primarily about the economy.

“President Trump has done more for Ohio in 47 months than Joe Biden has done in 47 years,” she said at that event, echoing a statement her father has made a number of times.

She added: “My father is a fighter, and he’ll never stop fighting for you,” and “Now, more than ever, America needs four more years of a warrior in the White House.”

Ivanka campaigned Wednesday in Portersville, Pa.

Ivanka, along with others from the Trump administration, were scheduled to come to Youngstown on Aug. 5, 2019, to discuss workforce development and opportunity zones. Because of a mass shooting in Dayton that killed nine and left 17 injured a day earlier, the event was canceled.

The Trump and Biden campaigns have made a number of campaign stops in Ohio during the past seven weeks.

Donald Trump Jr., the president’s oldest son, had a Monday rally at The Maronite Center in Youngstown in support of his father. About 400 people attended that event.

During that rally, Trump Jr. said the election comes down to a choice between his father, who is fighting for working-class Americans, and Democrat Joe Biden, who he described as corrupt, out of touch and ineffective.

Tiffany Trump, another Trump daughter, is hosting a campaign event today in Holland, Ohio.

But with the election five days away, no announcements have been made that the president, Vice President Mike Pence, Biden or his vice presidential running mate Kamala Harris will come to the Mahoning Valley.

It would be the first time in decades that the area hasn’t hosted a campaign visit from a major party presidential or vice presidential candidate during an election year.
