Murder case goes to Mahoning grand jury

Staff report

BOARDMAN — A man facing a murder charge in a Boardman Township case waived his right to a preliminary hearing Tuesday, and his case was bound over to a Mahoning County grand jury.

Emanuel Boyd, 19, is in the county jail on the murder charge after the Feb. 13 shooting of Kane Wiesensee, 18. Boyd is held on a $250,000 bond.

A female witness, who was in the house, told investigators that the shooting was “an accident,” and that Boyd was playing with a gun when Wiesensee was fatally shot in the chest, according to a police report. But Boyd told investigators a black sedan with its lights off pulled up to the two men while they were on West Boulevard.

When officers responded to the call at 5515 West Blvd., they said they noticed footprints in fresh snow, all of which matched Boyd’s shoes, and did not observe tire tracks.
