WHAT: Board of Education meeting Thursday
PRESENT: Mark Zuppo, Diane Alejars, Vincent Ragozine, Sue Ellen Harris-Davis, Karen Thomas and Superintendent Bryan O’Hara
The board:
• Recognized the students of the month. Scholarship — Emily Semple, 10th grade; Casey Brookbank, seventgh grade and Kia Williams, eighth grade. Service award — Kennedy Siebert, 10th grade. Citizenship award — Ashley Kaiser, 10th grade; Jay Long, 12th grade, and Lillyana Tomasik, seventh grade. Improvement — Paige Alexander, 10th grade, and Tagen Simpson, eighth grade. Principal’s award — Abbey Sliwinski, 12th grade, and Kylie Carpenter, eighth grade;
• Accepted the resignation of Gina Blascak, teacher, and Eli Raptis, junior high boy’s basketball coach;
• Approved contracting with Jones & Young, LLC for grant writing services;
• Approved continuing the district’s membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association;
• Hired Alessandra LaMonica as substitute educational aide and substitute secretary;
• Hired Ashley Simunich as MD / ED educational aide at Prospect Elementary at $12.46 per hour; Charlene Smith as one-on-one educational aide at Prospect Elementary at $12.08 per hour; and Vicki Messuri as 6.5 hour assistant cook at $10.66 per hour; and Katherine Liston as assistant cook at $10.35 per hour, three hours per day;
• Hired Miranda Domiano as intervention specialist at St. Rose School from Jan. 30 through June 30;
• Approved Stephen Struble for the Practicum / Internship Program through Eastern Gateway Community College;
• Hired Patrick Pearson as junior high boy’s basketball coach at $2,603.52; Nolan Cubellis ($1,227.12), James Tedesco ($1,328.41) and Eric Pelligrini ($1,125.83) as assistant basketball coaches; Jeff Steiner and Bill Durkin as assistant softball coaches at $3,073.60 each; Claire Ferrando as assistant track coach at $1,988.80; Ken Walters and Wesley Hidge as assistant track coaches at $1,356 each; Keith Brown as assistant varsity strack coach at $3,073.60; and Jen Gassman and John Sotirovich as junior high track coaches at $1,536.80 each;
• Approved FMLA leave for Sherry Christner, bus driver, and Abigail Cook, teacher.
