Assault on bus being investigated
AUSTINTOWN — An incident on a school bus involving a bus aide and a student with special needs is under investigation by police.
A woman came to the Austintown police station Thursday afternoon to report an aide pushed her son as he was getting on the bus at Leonard Kirtz School, 4801 Woodridge Drive. The boy then pushed the aide, and the aide punched the boy with a closed fist, according to a police report.
The student was not injured, according to the woman.
An investigator with the Mahoning County Board of Developmental Disabilities told police about the incident and showed police video from the bus, which he said he will forward to them, according to the report.
