Auto dealers overcome slow Nov.

WARREN — Automobile dealers in the Mahoning Valley overcame a down month in November to stay well ahead of the pace set in 2018.

Through November, local dealerships sold 84,868 vehicles to buyers across Ohio, an 8 percent increase from the 78,564 vehicles sold during the same 11 months last year. That’s despite an 8.4 percent loss in sales for the month, which posted 6,419 sales compared to 7,015 through November 2018.

Reports from the Greater Cleveland Automobile Dealers’ Association also show there was a 12.4 percent decrease to buyers in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties, however, those dealerships were still posting a 5 percent gain for the year so far.

To just buyers in the three-county region, dealers have sold 54,599 vehicles through November compared to 52,007 through November 2018.

New vehicles sold for the month were 2,161, down 16 percent from 2,574 in November 2018, and for the year there is a 4.4 percent increase, from 29,222 to 30,516. Used vehicle sales for the month were down 6.5 percent, from 1,966 to 1,838, and for the year there is a 6 percent increase, from 21,793 in November 2018 to 23,109 now.

Dealerships in Mahoning County with the most sales across Ohio in November were Sweeney Chevrolet, 233; Sweeney Buick GMC, 195; Greenwood Chevrolet, 194; Boardman Subaru, 189; and Taylor Kia of Boardman, 171.

Dealerships in the county with the most sales in the three counties were Sweeney Chevrolet, 218; Greenwood Chevrolet, 187; Sweeney Buick GMC, 183; Boardman Subaru, 173; and Taylor Kia of Boardman, 161.

The top new vehicle sellers in Mahoning County were Sweeney Chevrolet, 144; Boardman Subaru, 113; Greenwood Chevrolet and Sweeney Buick GMC, tied at 105; and Fred Martin Ford and Taylor Kia of Boardman, tied at 90.

The top used vehicle sellers in the county last month were Greenwood Chevrolet, 82; Sweeney Buick GMC, 78; Sweeney Chevrolet, 74; Taylor Kia of Boardman, 71; and Boardman Subaru, 60.

The overall best selling dealership in the Mahoning Valley last month was Sweeney Chevrolet.
