Three companies get state help for driver training

Three companies in Trumbull County are receiving tax credits from the state to support commercial driver training.

Bristol-based B&J Environmental Inc., which operates in the water and wastewater field, will receive $11,500, and trucking companies, Nick Strimbu Inc. in Brookfield and P.I.&I. Motor Express Inc., which has a terminal in Masury, each will receive $25,000 in tax credit funding through the Commercial Driver’s License Training Program. Also, Niles will receive $1,500.

The program was created to help alleviate the cost of training for Ohio employers and CDL drivers and to upskill employees.

Sixty companies across 36 Ohio counties were picked to receive funding for help with credentials.

A total of $815,085 in tax credits will be provided to support training for approximately 1,300 CDL drivers.

Employers could earn tax credits for half of approved training costs, up to $25,000.
