STRUTHERS — The Struthers Board of Education heard from resident and parent Nick Pastella about the importance of including girls flag football as a sport at the board’s September meeting. He noted that grants for equipment and uniforms would be possible through the Cleveland Browns Girls Flag Football Initiative. Lowellville man killed in crash

POLAND TOWNSHIP — A Lowellville man was killed in a one-vehicle crash late Friday night on Struthers Road. The Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Canfield post said a 2025 Subaru Forester driven by Ryan M. George, 27, was traveling north on Struthers Road just south of U.S. Route 224 after midnight when he lost control on a curve, traveled off the left side of the road, struck a tree and overturned. George was not wearing a safety belt and was pronounced dead at the scene, the patrol report states. The crash remains under investigation.
