Grammy-winning artist set to perform at Dyngus Day Dance
Grammy winner Walter Ostanek will be the headliner for the Penn-Ohio Polka Pals Dyngus Day Dance.
Monday’s performance will be the day after Ostanek’s 90th birthday.
He started playing button diatonic accordion at age 9 and got his first piano accordion three years later. By the time he was 16 years old, he was leading his own country-western/polka band in Ontario.
In his career, Ostanek has been nominated for 21 Grammy Awards and is a three-time winner.
For the Dyngus Day Dance, Ostanek will be joined on stage by guitarist, banjo player and vocalist Ron Sluga from Cleveland.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Monday at DiLucia’s Banquet Hall, 2610 Elm Road NE, Howland, and Ron Pivovar and the Curmudgeons will start the music at 5 p.m.
Admission is $15 at the door with children ages 18 and younger admitted free.
