The 2025-26 Celebrity Series at Westminster College will end with a Commotion.
Tribute act Commotion plays the music of Creedence Clearwater Revival. In a two-year span from July 1968 to July 1970, CCR released five Platinum or multi-Platinum selling albums that spawned 11 top 40 hits, including “Proud Mary,” “Bad Moon Rising,” “Green River,” “Down on the Corner,” “Fortunate Son” and “Who’ll Stop the Rain.”
Commotion is led by lead guitar player Jimmy Ryan, lead singer Steve McLain, drummer Mark Ellis and bassist George Foster.
Ryan got his start in the band The Critters, which had success in the ’60s with “Mr. Dieingly Sad” and “Younger Girl.” Ryan later spent years touring with Carly Simon (he’s the one playing the guitar solo on “You’re So Vain”), and he’s worked with such iconic artists as Paul McCartney, Elton John, Mick Jagger, Cat Stevens, James Taylor, Rod Stewart and Jim Croce.
The concert starts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Orr Auditorium, Westminster Drive, New Wilmington, Pa. Tickets range from $39 to $52 and are available online at www.westminster.edu/celebrity and by calling 724-946-7354.
