McGuffey series has Upton House curator

Harriet Taylor Upton House Museum curator Ken Conklin will speak at the next William Holmes McGuffey Historical Society’s Memories of a Lifetime program.

Upton was a leader in the National American Women Suffrage Association. She conducted business from her Warren mansion and entertained many celebrities in its parlor. The Upton House Museum, 380 Mahoning Ave. NW, opened in 1989, and the home was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1992.

The program starts at 10 a.m. Aug. 17 at Denny’s restaurant meeting room, 4020 Belmont Ave., Liberty. Admission is $10 for McGuffey members and $15 for non-members. Reservations are recommended and can be made by calling 330-726-8277.
