Closing reception set for ‘No Guarantees’
A closing reception for the “No Guarantees” exhibition is planned from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N. Park Ave., Warren.
Curated by Robyn Maas, the show features the work of 19 women artists, and the title refers to solitary work that all artists put in with “no guarantees” that their creations will be seen outside of their workspace.

Firewood expo comes to Trumbull fairgrounds
The International Firewood Expo returns June 5 and 6 to the Trumbull County Fairgrounds, 899 Everett Hull Road, Bazetta.
Hosted by Ohio Wood Burner Ltd, it brings together firewood and forestry professionals, equipment manufacturers, content creators and enthusiasts for two days of hands-on demonstrations and industry connection.

Pride picnic is planned Saturday at Wick Park
A picnic for Youngstown Community Pride is scheduled from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at Wick Park, Elm Street and Illinois Avenue, Youngstown.
The community-run, trans-inclusive, family-friendly Pride event will include a free vegan meal, a variety of talks and workshops and entertainment by Aairo, Conner Bez, Adele Pickle, Mixxona and Crash the Great.

Titanic artifact exhibition opens in Cleveland
“TITANIC: The Artifact Exhibition” opens today at the Great Lakes Science Center, 601 Erieside Ave., Cleveland.
It features more than 200 authentic artifacts recovered from the wreck site that tell the story of the ship and its passengers and crew along with life-size reconstructions of the ship’s most famous rooms and the most historically accurate Titanic VR experience ever.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $15 children and $12 for Science Center members. Guests receive $5 off when combined with tickets to the center.

Musicians celebrate Dylan, raise funds for food bank
For the third year, local musicians will celebrate Bob Dylan’s birthday with a benefit concert at 8 p.m. Friday at Westside Bowl, 2617 Mahoning Ave., Youngstown.
Organized by the band Rolling Boxcar International, “When the Night Comes Falling from the Sky — a Tribute to Bob Dylan” will feature RBI along with Nick Adduci, Kari Rutushin and The Building will perform selections from Dylan’s vast catalog of songs the day before his 84th birthday.
Doors open at 6 p.m. for the all-ages show.
Admission is $10 in advance and $15 at the door, and all proceeds will be donated to Second Harvest Food Bank of the Mahoning Valley.
Bloomfield drama club students see ‘Outsiders’
Bloomfield High School Drama Club was selected to participate in the “The Stay Gold Project,” an educational initiative through Playhouse Square in Cleveland.
About 25 students and staff members from the middle school and high school traveled to Cleveland for the event, which included a performance by the North American touring company of the Tony Award-winning musical “The Outsiders” as well as a pre-show discussion with members of the cast.
The Stay Gold Project is an educational initiative inspired by the story of S.E. Hinton’s “The Outsiders” and created to help underwrite student tickets to the musical’s national tour.
First Amendment lawyer to speak at press club event
“From the front lines of press freedom: The legal threats reshaping the news” will be the topic of a nationally known media and constitutional law attorney who will address the Youngstown Press Club on June 18.
David Marburger was the founding general counsel for the Ohio Coalition for Open Government and has been practicing First Amendment law for more than 40 years. He defended media in more than 110 libel suits and is co-author of “Access with Attitude.”
The luncheon/program starts at noon at the main branch of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 305 Wick Ave., Youngstown. Tickets are $30 for press club members and $40 for the general public. Advance registration is required at yopressclub.com.

Bike event postponed in Youngstown
Due to the weather forecast, the Bike @ the Market event planned today in downtown Youngstown is postponed until June 11.
The Bike Month Walk leaving from the grounds of the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County, 305 Wick Ave., will go on as scheduled at 5:30 p.m. today, weather permitting.

TAG displays Devadan’s art
Katerina Devadan is the artist of the month for May at Trumbull Art Gallery, 158 N. Park Ave., Warren.
Her exhibit “Bloomed by Hand” includes pottery, painting and design that is rooted in harmony, repetition and emotional safety. She uses repeated patterns to express deep appreciation for nature’s symmetry and strength, the influence of cultural memory and the peace that repetition brings.

Project Mayhem plays Spartan Stadium
The Boardman High School rock orchestra Project Mayhem will play its annual stadium show on Friday.
The high-energy outdoor performance attracts thousands to Spartan Stadium, 7777 Glenwood Ave., and showcases the talents of Boardman High School’s student musicians and vocalists in a full-scale stadium concert experience.
Gates open at 7:30 p.m., and the concert starts at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the stadium. Tickets also can be purchased in advance at door one at Boardman high school from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Library program looks at singers, songs
A program on “Memories Are Made of This: Singers and the Songs that Made Them Famous” is scheduled at 5 p.m. Monday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library Liberty Branch, 415 Churchill Hubbard Road.
Local historian Marcia Levy will highlight famous singers and the songs that made them famous, including music from Frank Sinatra, The Beatles, Sonny & Cher, Dolly Parton and others.

Bike Belmont event planned Sunday
The 4th Bike Belmont community cycling event starts at noon Sunday at Wick Park, 260 Park Ave., Youngstown.
Participants can take part in a 12-mile or 32-mile ride for the program designed to showcase the Belmont Avenue corridor while promoting healthy lifestyles and strengthening connections among residents, businesses and local organizations.
Following the ride will be a celebration in Wick Park with food trucks and family-friendly activities. Registration is $10 per rider and those who register in advance will receive a $10 food truck voucher E-bikes will be available for rental. Helmets are required. Bites and Bits looks at museum’s architecture
The Arts and Crafts architectural style and its influence on what is now known as the Arms Family Museum will be the topic of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society’s next Bites and Bits of History program.
Jessica Trickett, MVHS collections manager, will explore the style that grew from a philosophical movement launched by 19th century English writers, art critics, and designers. Olive Arms used the Arts and Crafts aesthetic to create her home in 1905 at 648 Wick Ave., Youngstown.
The program starts at noon May 21 at the Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown. Admission is free, and attendees are encouraged to bring their lunch to enjoy during the program.
TCHS plans Pioneer Cemetery tour
The Trumbull County Historical Society will offer a walking tour of Pioneer Cemetery, 661 Mahoning Ave. NW, at 10 a.m. May 23.
Pioneer Cemetery is where many of Warren’s early settlers, including many Revolutionary War veterans, are buried.

Library offers program on Jackie Kennedy Onassis
A program on the life of Jackie Kennedy Onassis is scheduled at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.
Presenter Susan Cannavino will look at the life of the former First Lady, style icon and cultural ambassador.

ESC of Eastern Ohio displays student art
The annual Student Art Show is scheduled from 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Educational Service Center of Eastern Ohio, 7320 N. Palmyra Road, Canfield.
The exhibition features more than 250 pieces of artwork created by students from across the region. It celebrates the creativity, talent, and hard work of young artists representing a wide range of schools and grade levels.

Pogram explores downtown Youngstown’s history
A program on “Downtown Youngstown Through the Years” is planned at 5 p.m. May 14 at the Warren-Trumbull County Library Liberty Branch, 415 Churchill-Hubbard Road.
The Mahoning Valley Historical Society presentation will explore more than 200 years of downtown Youngstown through historic images, maps and stories that show its growth from a frontier village to a thriving industrial community.

Author plans book signings for Midlife Moxie release
Austintown author Nancy Christie will do two book signings this weekend in conjunction with the paperback release of “Transforming Tessa,” the fourth book in her Midlife Moxie Novel Series.
Christie will be at Look Nook Gift Shop at Salem Regional Medical Center, 1995 E. State St., Salem, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit patient care.

Charles Grodin documentary coming to JCC on May 14
The Youngstown Area Jewish Film Series will present the documentary “Charles Grodin: Rebel with a Cause” at 6 p.m. May 14 at the Jewish Community Center of Youngstown, 505 Gypsy Lane.
Raised in a Jewish household in Pittsburgh, Charles Grodin’s life embodied the concept of Tikkun Olam or “repairing the world.” The film not only celebrates Grodin’s hilarious acting career but also his decades-long, successful fight to get wrongly convicted people out of prison.
The screening is free, but donations will be accepted at the door.

Ballet Theatre Ashtabula presents spring concert
“Echoes,” Ballet Theatre Ashtabula’s 2026 spring dance concert, will be staged for six performances at Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St.
The annual concert features Ballet Theatre Ashtabula’s senior division dancers performing original choreography in an array of styles — ballet, modern, contemporary and musical theater — as well as excerpts from the ballets “Paquita” and “Swan Lake.”
Show times are 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday through May 17.

YSU offers Summer Art Camp on June 22-26
The Youngstown State University art department will host a Summer Art Camp June 22 to 26 for students ages 13 to 18.
The camp runs from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day at Bliss Hall.
Participants will work across multiple media — including painting, printmaking, photography, and graphic design — with instruction and critique from college-level art faculty. It concludes with a public exhibition of the work created.
The cost is $325, and the deadline for registration and payment is June 5. Lunch is provided each day.

Stuck in Ohio documentary showing at Stambaugh
Tickets are on sale now for “The YO,” an urban adventure documentary created by Stuck in Ohio, a Mahoning Valley production company founded by brothers Ken and Dan Mizicko.
Filmed throughout the streets, parks and hidden corners of the city, “The YO” reveals a side of Youngstown rarely seen — one shaped by movement, creativity and resilience.
What began as documenting friends and everyday moments grew into a two-decade journey of storytelling connected to the people and places that define this region.
It will be shown at 5 p.m. Aug. 30 at Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave., Youngstown.
