The Youngstown Playhouse will have auditions on June 28 and 29 and July 2 for the musical “In the Heights,” which will open its 2026-27 season

Actor auditions are scheduled from 6 to 9 p.m. June 28 and 29 for the Lin-Manuel Miranda/Quiara Alegria Hudes musical.

The dance call will be at 6 p.m. July 2, and both will be in the Moyer Room at the Playhouse, 600 Playhouse Lane.

Director Caitlyn Santiago is looking to cast a vibrant, diverse ensemble ages 16 and older.

The production team is especially seeking performers who can authentically represent the Latin and Hispanic communities at the heart of this story.

Those auditioning should prepare 16 to 32 bars (30 to 60 seconds) of a pop or musical theater song.

An accompanist will be provided. Please bring sheet music in the correct key or a backing/karaoke track with no voices.

Dancers should plan to come to the dance call prepared to learn a short choreographed dance. Singers may sign up for the dance call as well if they would like to be considered for a dancing role.

All roles are open for the non-union, no pay.

Rehearsals will begin on July 14, and “In the Heights” will open Aug. 28 for a two-weekend run.

Joining Santiago on the creative team are Clay Colley as musical director and Amber Ardolino — whose Broadway credits include “A Beautiful Noise,” “Hamilton,” “Back to the Future: The Musical,” “Funny Girl” and “Head Over Heels” as choreographer.
