‘Show Goes On’ | Trumbull Senior Production returns

Trumbull Senior Production Company returns to Champion High School on Saturday with “The Show Goes On.”

The company, featuring performers all ages 50 and older, had used the schools’ theater in the past, but it moved to the smaller space at Warren SCOPE Center following the COVID-19 pandemic.

“We’re excited to do this show back at Champion High School on a big stage,” Director Jason Burgermyer said. “We’re very grateful to SCOPE for allowing us to use their stage, but we’re grateful to be back at Champion.”

Trumbull Senior Production Company needs that bigger stage for “The Show Goes On,” a performance that features several dance numbers.

“It’s a variety show that really focuses on dance and the different styles of dance, from hula dancing from Hawaii to Hula Hooping,” Burgermyer said. “We have a professional Hulla Hooper who does a lot of wonderful tricks with Hula Hoops that light up.

“We have a clown this year who once belonged to Barnum & Bailey. And our main acts are Sandra Miles, who plays saxophone, and Gary and Kathy Kovell, who are our ballroom dancers.”

The cast also features Johanne Bartholomew, Shirley Bierce, Jason Burgermyer, Penny Callahan, Lupe Cohen, Karen Combs, Barb Ford, Barb Hurd, Claudia Kimes, Janet LaPlante, Susette Liddle, Judy Mackey, Debbie Mechling, Elaine Morgan, Becky Noftsinger, Roselyn Ragozine, Patti Rodgers, Marge Swager, Lana VanAuker, Peggy Weller, Leslie Wilkinson and Burgermyer with guests Renee Johntony, Doreen Rodgers and Joe Sullivan.

In creating the show, Burgermyer said, “I utilize what I have and try to use their talents. That’s what I do every year.”

“The Show Goes On” will be staged at 6 p.m. Saturday at the high school, 5976 Mahoning Ave. NW. Tickets are $15 and will be available at the door. For more information, call or text 330-306-8558.
