Tyler center presents genealogy program

Stacey Adger will present an “Introduction to Genealogy” as the next Bites and Bits of History lunchtime program at Tyler History Center, 325 W. Federal St., Youngstown,

Her lecture will focus on the importance of “old-fashioned leg work,” like using census directories, property and court documents and other types of documentation. She also stresses the value of talking to the ancestors in your family. She’ll discuss why family reunions are important, the pros and cons of DNA testing and offer advice on making sure family trees grow and blossom.

Adger is a trustee for the Ohio Genealogical Society and a past president of the Mahoning County chapter of the Ohio Genealogical Society.

The program starts at noon Aug. 18, and the series is sponsored by the John and Loretta Hynes Foundation.
