Threat sends South Side school into lockdown

YOUNGSTOWN — The Summit Academy Secondary School on Shady Run Road on Youngstown’s South Side was locked down for a short time Tuesday after a student was threatened.

Police were notified at 1:45 p.m. of the threat and spoke with the school’s principal. The school was locked down until it was determined the building was safe, police said.

Police remained at the school the rest of the afternoon to make sure everyone felt safe, an officer at the school said.
