YOUNGSTOWN — The Youngstown State football team was picked ninth in the Missouri Valley Football Conference preseason poll.

North Dakota State unsurprisingly was chosen first, followed by South Dakota State and Missouri State.

The remaining order was: Southern Illinois, Northern Iowa, South Dakota, North Dakota, Illinois State, YSU, Indiana State and Western Illinois.

The MVFC also released its All-Conference preseason selections. YSU tailback Jaleel McLaughlin was named to the 1st Team, while offensive lineman Jaison Williams and linebacker Greg Benton Jr. were named to the 2nd Team.

YSU begins its season Sept. 3 against Duquesne.
