Warriors upend D-III power
¯ WEST BRANCH 34, CHIPPEWA 29: BERLIN — The Division II, state-ranked Warriors flexed its muscle during Monday’s Classic in the Country against the Division III power Chippewas in this defensive battle.
Peyton Alazaus led West Branch (12-2) and all scorers with 13 points.
Chippewa (9-5) outrebounded the Warriors 43 to 35 and were led by Koncz with 11 points.
West Branch also overcame shooting 6 of 17 from the foul line.
¯ GIRARD 48, BADGER: VERNON — Emily Fitzgerald scored 13 of her game-high 16 points in the second and third quarters as the Indians pulled away from the Braves.
Girard (9-7) outscored Badger (6-6) 28-9 in the second and third quarters.
Sieasia Triplett added 12 points, while Marissa Cave added 10 for the Indians.
Paige Kramar paced the Braves with 10 points.
¯ AUSTINTOWN FITCH 45, EAST 27: AUSTINTOWN — Ashley Mickey had a team-high 11 points to lead the Falcons past the Golden Bears.
Freshman Zayda Creque added eight for the Falcons (6-8).
East dropped to 11-5.
¯ WINDHAM 45, LORDSTOWN 34: LORDSTOWN — Tara VanSteenburg had a game-high 18 points to lead the Bombers past the Red Devils in this Northeastern Athletic Conference game.
Paige Collins put in 10 for Windham (4-11, 3-8 NAC).
Lexie Drewek paced Lordstown (0-13, 0-10) with nine points.
