Phantoms staffer arrested

Robert Acri, the Youngstown Phantoms director of hockey operations, was arrested Friday after allegedly responding to an online ad soliciting prostitution.

The arrest was first reported by WKBN-TV 27

Upon arriving to the 100 block of West State Street in Salem, he was taken into custody, according to a Salem Police Department incident report. It was part of a sting operation in collaboration between the Mahoning Valley Human Trafficking Task Force, Salem Police Department and Ohio State Highway Patrol.

The Phantoms put out the following statement on social media regarding the news:

“The Phantoms have learned that an employee has been arrested on misdemeanor prostitution charges. He has been suspended by the team pending an investigation. Our primary concern will always be the safety of our players, and we will continue to monitor the situation as it develops.”

Acri, 30, had recently been hired to the position after the departure of Brandon Dennis in August.

Starting at $3.23/week.
