It really is just all about the elites

DEAR EDITOR: The focus is becoming clearer each and every day. As drip, drip, drip of information becomes more prolific and reveals the crux of the corruption of the Trump era, elites who control our country and who have been preparing for complete control over all aspects of our lives are exposed for their dark intentions. We are not talking about the “elites” spewed by the MAGA base. This is elitism through money which controls the media, government, financial, religious, elector al , judicial, military, safety institutions in the USA. Just think for a moment about Clarence ...

Victor Davis Hanson buffing Donald’s shoes

DEAR EDITOR: Victor Davis Hanson’s column, “Progress in US booms now that common-sense leader serves,” published July 30, steers clear of the most concerning particulars of our “common-sense leader.” First, the seditious J6 mob and their pardons. Mr. Hanson is scholarly enough to know that when perpetrators of crimes, especially serious crimes, are not held fully accountable, it sends a dangerous message that the consequences for attacking law enforcement are not severe, potentially emboldening others to commit similar acts of violence. Seeing someone get away with a crime can ...

Make sure you can stop your car in time

DEAR EDITOR: How many times have you heard, or possibly even said, “No, really, I can stop.” Although often applied to a vice, today we’re discussing another summer safe driving subject. Did you ever wonder how roadway speed limits are established? Several factors go into establishing a speed limit, but for the sake of this conversation, let’s address what are termed “Statutory Speed Limits.” These are speed limits that the state Legislature establishes, applies, and enforces by law. They may vary from state to state and can change due to conditions, but here’s a good rule ...

A response to the editorial on MCP deer

DEAR EDITOR: Mill Creek Park Executive Director Aaron Young is indeed nefarious and there certainly are evil motives. The count of 387 deer the first year was a blatant lie that Aaron infiltrated all of the media with. That lie was with intent, therefore being very nefarious and led by a madman. He is autocratic and will do anything he pleases. You obviously don’t really know him. The fact that he now wants to kill all of the little animals proves his lack of knowledge of our echo system. The little animals, like the opossum, keep the tick count way down and the Lyme disease. We ...

Rulli should defend his vote in person

DEAR EDITOR: I’m disappointed in Rep. Michael Rulli’s support for the so-called “Big Beautiful Bill,” which includes damaging cuts to Medicaid. For many in our community, Medicaid is a lifeline — not a luxury. By backing these cuts, Rep. Rulli is turning his back on seniors, children and working families who rely on that coverage. Worse, he’s doing it without facing the people it affects. If Rep. Rulli believes this bill is good for our district, he should explain it in a public town hall — not just in press releases or party-line votes. Let us ask questions. Let him ...

Some differences after moving to Ohio

DEAR EDITOR: I moved to the Mahoning Valley from Erie County, Pa., for a position at the LG chem plant. I was surprised at the lax consumer protections in Ohio as compared to Pennsylvania. The first thing I noticed was how Ohio gas stations price spread fuel grades. In Ohio there is at least a $1.00 price spread between 87 and 93 octane; some stations have a $1.50 price spread! In Pennsylvania, it’s usually 60/70 cents. The second thing, Ohio businesses are not required by law to post signs if they pass swipe fees onto consumers. My biggest pet peeve is when I try to support a ...
