Trump, Republicans are acting immune to the law

DEAR EDITOR: Republican senators have swarmed to join in President Trump’s immunity to the law to protest a lawful warrant issued for phone numbers they called during the Jan. 6 insurrection. Just the numbers, not who or what. You, citizen, can’t do that, let alone demand $500,000 to punish the investigators. The same people now recommend hanging “traitors,” who stated in a tv commercial, the law that military personnel are not bound to follow unlawful orders. DEAR EDITOR: The Nov. 28 edition of The Vindicator asked its readers, “Should National Guard troops be removed from D.C.?” The majority responded ‘No.’ I found that somewhat surprising. When a member of the National Guard is deployed it impacts their civilian job and family life. DEAR EDITOR: Senate Bill 293, an anti-voting bill currently heading to Gov. Mike DeWine’s desk, is blatantly just another problem in search of a solution. If enacted, SB 293 would harm voter turnout by needlessly closing the four-day window Boards of Elections have to receive ballots after Election Day. It must be underscored that these ballots are still required to be postmarked the day before Election Day, meaning that this bill would force our elections officials to discard otherwise valid votes. DEAR EDITOR: I’m writing to support the existing Poland Library. I’d like to take all who are reading this on a walk there because it’s the best way to experience the bond between the library and the community. I lived on Cortland Street, and I’ve made this walk hundreds of times. Come with me. As you walk down Cortland toward Main Street, you pass several historic houses, and, when you near the corner, the Poland Town Hall sits on your right, directly across Main from the library.
