Marijane Salpietra 1931-2026
BOARDMAN — Marijane Salpietra, 95, left us peacefully on Saturday, July 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.
Born May 14, 1931, in Youngstown, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary Jane Buonpane Powers.
A proud graduate of The Rayen School, Marijane dedicated her life to her family and home, embodying the very essence of a devoted homemaker. Her passion for cooking and baking was paralleled only by her pursuit of perfection, as she infused love into every meal prepared and every treat shared.
Marijane was actively involved in her community, holding memberships in the Applewood Garden Club, the Latin Culture Foundation and the Wolves Club Auxiliary. Her contributions to these organizations reflected her commitment to enhancing the lives of those around her.
She is survived by her loving children, Nicholas Salpietra of Springfield Township, Dianne (David) Petro of Poland and Janie (Marco) Marinucci of Boardman; daughter-in-law, Mary Salpietra of Michigan; sister, Alice Hartig of Struthers; brothers, Ron (Sandy) McGowen of Boardman and Art (Betty) Powers of Florida; eight grandchildren, Andrea Carter, Petey Salpietra, Nicholas Salpietra, Drew (Colleen) Petro, Nicole (Zack) Politsky, Nina (Rami) Chammas, Gianna (Anthony) Rohan and Carmen (Sophia) Marinucci; and 11 great-grandchildren, Caleb, Cameron, George, Molly, Jack, James, Lucy, Thomas, Alex, Johnny and Maria.
Marijane was preceded in death by her husband, Nicholas Salpietra, whom she married Oct. 29, 1949, and who died Nov. 29, 1992; her son, JM “Pete” Salpietra, on June 13, 2018; and her brother, John (Gail) Powers.
Per Marijane’s wishes, private funeral services were held at Higgins-Reardon Funeral Homes, Poland Chapel. Following the service, Marijane was laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery.
