7 17’s Financial Wellness Night rescheduled

Because of ongoing air quality concerns, 7 17 Credit Union’s Financial Wellness Night at the Ballpark in Niles, originally scheduled for Friday, is being rescheduled.

7 17 Day will instead be celebrated at the Mahoning Valley Scrappers game July 24. All original tickets remain valid for the new date.

Boardman Park event moved to Sept. 12

BOARDMAN — The Boardman Park Community Day/Celebrating America’s 250th, originally scheduled for Saturday, has been postponed because of the potential for severe weather.

The event has been rescheduled for Sept. 12.

In a news release Friday afternoon, Boardman Park officials announced the change.

“With the forecast of the potential for severe thunderstorms across the region this weekend, combined with the lingering impacts of the severe windstorm that struck our community on July 5, these conditions present a safety risk for an event expected to welcome thousands of visitors,” the release states.

The History of Boardman presentation and guided tours of the Historic Village, including St. James Meeting House and Detchon Museum by the Boardman Historical Society, also have been rescheduled to Sept. 12.

Saturday’s River Rock moves inside

River Rock at the Amp will have a roof this weekend.

Sunrise Entertainment, promoter of the outdoor concert series at the Warren Community Amphitheatre, will move Saturday’s show featuring the Michael Jackson tribute Who’s Bad and Bruno Mars tribute Uptown Funk to Packard Music Hall, 1703 Mahoning Ave. NW, Warren.

The smoke from Canadian wildfires that caused a statewide air quality advisory is less of a concern than the thunderstorms in the forecast for much of Saturday.

“As soon as the storm comes through, the smoke won’t be an issue,” Sunrise President Ken Haidaris said. “But there’s going to be so much rain, it won’t make any difference.”

If the bands were local/regional, Haidaris said he would try to reschedule, but both acts are flying in for the performance.

The air travel makes it the most expensive show on this summer’s schedule, Haidaris said, so he decided to move the event to guarantee neither smoke nor rain would force its cancellation.

The times will remain the same. Doors will open to the public at 5 p.m. Seating is general admission, and Uptown Funk will start at 5:30 p.m. with Who’s Bad at 8:30 p.m.

Tickets will be available at the door for $20 at the Packard box office on Saturday until the venue reaches capacity. Seating will be available on the front half of the floor and in the balcony, but attendees can bring lawn chairs to sit on at the back of the floor.

Drink tokens will be on sale as well as beer, wine, mixed drinks, water, pop and Sunrise Inn pizza. A variety of food vendors have been invited to set up outside the hall to provide more food options, and it will be up to them whether they choose to do so, according to Sunrise Entertainment. All prices for food, drinks and tokens remain the same.

Liberty delays America250 celebration

LIBERTY — Another community event is being canceled because of inclement weather, as Liberty Celebrates the Nation’s 250th Birthday — originally set for Saturday — has been postponed.

The event will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Aug. 4, in the Guy School parking lot, in conjunction with the police department’s National Night Out, and exhibitors, vendors and food vendors scheduled for Saturday are expected to be in attendance.
