Diocese names new coordinator of athletics
YOUNGSTOWN — The Diocese of Youngstown has named Tim McNeil as the new Coordinator of Athletics, effective July 8.
McNeil, a native of Mineral Ridge, is a Warren John F. Kennedy graduate and spent 19 years coaching at Westminster College.
He spent the previous two decades as head coach for the Westminster men’s and women’s cross country and track and field programs.
He led the Titans to 16 Presidents’ Athletic Conference (PAC) Championships.
McNeil is a 1996 graduate of Westminster, where he excelled in track and field as well as football.
In 2004, he earned a master’s degree in education from Westminster and is also a member of the Titan Sports Hall of Fame.
He spent six years as the Eagles’ head boys and girls track and field coach and during that time, he was also assistant principal.
“I am thrilled to be working with the coaches and administrators of all our schools in the Diocese of Youngstown to unify all the great athletic opportunities our student-athletes currently have. Where those opportunities are lacking, this office will provide a pathway,” McNeil said.
Superintendent of Catholic Schools Dr. Steven Jones said, “I am very excited to have Tim join our staff here in the Office of Catholic Schools. He brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in building excellent athletic programs, and his commitment to ensuring that our student-athletes have the best experience possible is going to enhance the overall education our students receive.”
