Edith Pallante 1927-2024

NILES — Edith Pallante, 96, passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Shepherd of the Valley Liberty.

She was born Nov. 12, 1927, in Niles, the daughter of James and Josephine Infante DeLucia. Edith was a 1947 graduate of Niles McKinley High School and employed as a presser at Cornicelli and Valsi Dry Cleaners for 30 years, retiring in 2005.

She was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Parish in Niles, Blessed Mother Society and Leisure 39’ers. She enjoyed cooking and reading.

Her husband, Louis “Lilacs” Pallante Sr., whom she married Aug. 20, 1949, died Dec. 26, 2006. She will be deeply missed by three sons, Louis Pallante Jr. and his wife, Charlene of Niles; Thomas Pallante and his wife, Christine of Niles; and Kenneth Pallante and his wife, Renee of Howland; three grandchildren, Nicholas Pallante, Daniel Pallante and his wife, Sheila, and Jessica Pallante; two great-grandchildren, Jude and Nolli; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Ralph DeLucia, Louis DeLucia and Angelo DeLucia; and two sisters, Irene Alfera and Carmel Ritter.

Friends may call 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, at Joseph Rossi and Sons Funeral Home in Niles, where the Mount Carmel Bereavement Ministry will conduct prayers at 6:30 p.m.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m Tuesday at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Niles, preceded by a 10:30 a.m. prayer service, at the funeral home.

Burial will be in Niles City Cemetery.
