Wanda J. Mullett 1931-2024

Together again

NORTH JACKSON — Mrs. Wanda Janelle Mullett, 93, formerly of North Jackson, passed away peacefully late Saturday evening, March 9, 2024, at Hampton Woods Nursing Center in Poland.

She was born January 29, 1931, in Thornville, the daughter of Harold H. and Velda R. Grubb Sallaz.

Wanda attended the Berlin Center high school and spent her adult life as a homemaker, raising and caring for her family.

She married her “dream come true,” Alfred C. Mullett, on May 27, 1950. They shared 71 years of marriage and he gave her the most wonderful years of her life. He preceded her in death, June 21, 2021.

Wanda was a member of the Ellsworth Community Church. In her younger years, she worked for the Plakie Toy Co. and Nostalgia Design, both in Canfield. She enjoyed bowling, cooking, knitting, sewing, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, and dancing the two-step and jitterbug with her husband. Most of all she loved devoting her time to her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her two daughters, Debra D. Juillerat of Berlin Center and Linda L. (Michael) Nicholson of Boardman. She also leaves behind three brothers, Harold (Velma) Sallaz, Robert (Alice) Sallaz and Donald (Darthella) Sallaz; seven grandchildren, Nicole (Jeremy) Porter, John (Lisa) Phillips, Tiffany Palumbo, Adam (Katherine) Palumbo, Melissa Burky, Michael (Jen) Nicholson and Matthew (Terra) Nicholson; nine great-grandchildren, Carson and Jordan Porter, and Michael, Ryan, Ellie, Megan, Matthew, Gianna and Anthony Vincent Nicholson; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, Wanda was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, James F. Sallaz; a sister-in-law, Twila Sallaz; a brother and sister-in-law, Wilmer and Katherine Rufener; and Wanda and Alfred’s beloved dog, Cricket.

In accordance with her wishes, private funeral services will be held at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown.

She will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband in North Jackson Cemetery.

Wanda’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the compassionate care given to her by the staff at Woodlands Assisted Living / Hampton Woods Nursing Center in Poland.
